Are you a Peloton devotee who loves Peloton branded apparel? If so, the Peloton affiliate program called “Refer a Friend” might be just what you are looking for to save a few bucks.

How the Peloton affiliate program works

If you are a Peloton Bike, Bike+, or Tread owner, you are eligible to join the Peloton referral program. Whenever you refer someone who buys a  Bike, Bike+, or Tread by giving them your referral code, you’ll get $100 off Peloton apparel. Peloton apparel includes workout tops, sweatshirts, leggings, shorts, pants, bags, caps, towels and socks. Note that the Peloton affiliate program is not like the Amazon affiliate program where you can actually make money by referring someone else. It just gives you a discount on clothing.

The person you refer will also get up to $100 towards accessories purchased with their Bike, Bike+, or Tread. Accessories include things like clip-in cycling shoes, a mat, weights and a heart rate band. Note the person you refer can’t use the referral to get a discount on the actual bike or tread.

You can only refer 6 people per calendar year (meaning your maximum total saving will be $600). You can also only join the referral program if you reside in  a country where you can get the bike or tread delivered (United States, Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Germany).

To be eligible to participate in the Peloton referral program you must satisfy the following criteria:

• you must be a Peloton Bike, Bike+, or Tread (not Rower) user
• you must have an active all-access subscription to Peloton
• you must live in a place where Peloton delivers (United States, Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Germany).

Where do I find my Peloton referral code?

Log in to your rider profile and visit account.onepeloton.com/settings/referrals. You can also access your referral code by visiting members.onepeloton.com and selecting the three dots at the top right corner. Once you select the three dots “Refer Friends” shows up in the dropdown menu if you are an eligible member. Select “Refer Friends” to be taken to your code.

How do my friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances use the code?

Your friends enter your referral code you share with them at checkout to receive the$100 off their purchase of accessories bought in conjunction with their Bike, Bike+, or Tread. The discount is also valid for accessory bundles.

So the steps to receive the discount are as follows:

Step 1 add a Bike, Bike+ and/or Tread to your cart

Step 2 add an accessory set or individual accessories to your cart

Step 3 enter the referral code before payment.

If the person you are referring is purchasing their Bike, Bike+ or Tread by phone or at a Peloton retail showroom, they can tell the Peloton associate the referral code, and this will be applied to their order.

Note that the code must be used at the time the person makes the purchase of their Bike, Bike+ or Tread. The code can’t be used retrospectively.

How do I use my discounts?

After your friend etc. uses your referral code, you will receive an email with a $100 apparel voucher code to be applied to your purchase of Peloton apparel. The subject line  of the email will be “Your Referral Reward is Here!” Note that it can take 3-5 days to receive your voucher code.

What can I use my discounts on?

Can my friends etc. use my referral code to purchase clothing rather than  accessories?

No, the referral code can only be used on accessories. They also can’t use the code to get a discount on the Bike, Bike+ or Tread.

Can I trade my discounts on apparel for cash?

You can’t trade your Peloton but you could buy the apparel and then resell it on ebay etc.

How many times can I refer a person?

You can only refer a person 6 times per calendar year (meaning the maximum saving you can make on your purchase of apparel is $600). Peloton changed its affiliate program. Previously you could give 12 referrals per year.

Are Peloton digital app users eligible to participate in the referral program?

No, you must have an all-access subscription to Peloton to be eligible to participate in the referral program.

How long do I have to use my apparel voucher code?

Your apparel voucher code will expire after 6 months.

Can I split my discount across multiple apparel purchases?

You cannot split your apparel voucher code across multiple purchases. It must be used in one transaction.

Can I stack my discounts?

If you have multiple credits you cannot stack them all in one order. For example, if you accrued $600 worth of discounts, you can’t use the entire amount in one transaction. You have to make separate transactions per referral credit. This is annoying because it means you need to pay for shipping each time. Also, if you spend less than $100 in one transaction, you still need to pay for shipping. You can’t use the remainder of the $100 to pay for shipping.

Does the Peloton referral program apply to the Rower?

If your friends and family purchase a Peloton Rower, you won’t get your apparel voucher. The discount only applies when your friends or family purchase a Bike, Bike+ or Tread.

What happens to my accrued apparel voucher codes if my Peloton All-Access-Membership expires?

If your Peloton All-Access-Membership happens to expire before you use your discount codes, the codes will also expire.

I have multiple people in my house using the all-access subscription to Peloton. Do we all get a Peloton referral code?

One of the benefits of the Peloton all-access subscription is that you can have multiple profiles on the same account (this means that other people in your household can use the bike/ tread and keep a record of their stats/ rides). The Peloton referral program used to allow anyone on your account to share a referral code. Now you can only have one Peloton referral code per active all-access subscription. So the other users of the subscription can only share the same code (meaning all of you only get 6 referrals together).

Can I post my Peloton referral code online so people I don’t know can use it?

According to the Peloton website, your referral code cannot be “distributed or sold for any commercial purposes or otherwise publicized for use by the general public or on a site where you are not the primary owner and operator”. In other words, your referral code is meant to be shared amongst your friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances. It is meant to encourage you to spread the Peloton love.

Reddit users have noted that the Peloton apparel store has frozen people’s referral codes when they find out the codes have been posted online.

How can I get a Peloton referral code if I don’t have friends or family with a Peloton Bike or Tread?

People used to freely post their codes on their websites and on reddit. But that has stopped after Peloton’s crackdown.  You could always join one of the Reddit Peloton groups and ask a member if they would be willing to share their code.

Is the Peloton referral program worth it?

The Peloton referral program has become less enticing over the years. You can now only refer a person 6 times a year (down from 12 a year) and only the primary account holder of the all-access subscription  can refer a person. Peloton have also become stricter about how referral codes are shared. The Peloton referral program is also not like the Amazon affiliate program where you can actually make money when the people you refer make a purchase. Instead it is meant to reward Peloton users for being brand ambassadors by allowing them to get discounts on Peloton apparel.

However if you love Peloton branded apparel and have several family members, friends or acquaintances who are interested in purchasing a Peloton bike or tread, the Peloton referral benefits can all add up making the referral program worth joining.
